airtel Mobile TV
airtel Mobile TV is a GPRS based video streaming service delivered through an application. It complements traditional TV by providing content for users to watch on his mobile through Live streaming of traditional TV content and works seamlessly on 2G, 2.5G and 3G networks. Using this, an airtel subscriber can access content from over 60 channels using his GPRS enabled handset. The application optimizes the audio and video delivered depending on the network strength available for a better experience. The application has two options—“Live” streaming of TV channels & Progressive play (content delivered with a 4-5 minute gap). In addition to that, there is content available as VOD also where the subscriber can download videos of his choice.
The TV channels content spans the following categories

• Financial News
• Travel
• Regional
• Children
• Religious
• International News
• Sports
Some of the recent sports events that have been shown Live are the Australian Open, F1 Grand Prix races and the IPL cricket championship.
How to access the service
To activate the service, the subscriber has to SMS keyword TV to 54321. He will then be sent a link from where he can download the airtel Mobile TV application. Once he downloads the application, he can then browse through the various channels available (which are all shown as logos for easier identification) and select the channel/package of his choice. The application is supported on multiple platforms – Symbian, J2ME, Blackberry with the Android and iPhone versions due for release in a short time-frame.
